"Knowing What's Good for You," 1 Samuel 15:34--16_13; Pastor Marvin G Spence
Sometimes like the Hebrews in Samuel's time we struggle with conforming to what everyone else is doing in terms of how we live. It is a humbling, sobering and sometimes a costly lesson to learn that we should have followed His guidance. Remember those sayings: "All that glitters ain't gold or I can show you better than I can tell you?" In their zealousness to be live everyone else, they rejected the best thing that ever happened to them--rejecting God as their Lord, Provider and Protector. God let them experience the results of their wrong decision to reject God as their Lord. Let's learn from their mistakes and not be so prideful that we think that we know better than what God desires for us. Let His Holy Spirit help you discern what is needed to live your best life now as a Christian. Remember and live by Proverbs 3: 5--6--"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him and He will make your paths straight." You will conclude that this is best decision you ever made.
